Dear Internode customer,

* Re-launch of Internode Premium Usenet service
* Change in metering status for abc.net.au content
* Other Cool Content

* Re-launch of Internode Premium Usenet service

Internode is pleased to announce the re-launch of our Premium Usenet
service.

This service offers access to a full global 'Usenet newsfeed' for our
customers. Usenet contains tens of thousands of discussion groups on a
huge range of topics.

This service is provided at no additional cost (saving you money
compared to paying third party Usenet service providers).

Please note that downloads incurred from Usenet do count toward your
normal download quota.

The re-release of full binary and text group support for Usenet is a
result of the strong growth in the Internode network in the last
several months, increasing our operational scale, and hence allowing
us to return this popular service to our customers.

More information about the Internode Premium Usenet service is
available here:

* Change in metering status for abc.net.au content

For some time, Internode has offered access to content provided by the
Australian Broadcasting Corporation on an 'unmetered' basis (not
counting toward your monthly download quota).

We have been able to do this because of our ability to access a high
performance 'peering' link to the primary ABC data centre in Ultimo,
NSW.

Over recent months, the ABC have taken steps to improve the
performance of their multimedia content services, by engaging external
(third party) content service companies to serve their content to
customers, rather than using their own data centre and servers.

While this decision improves ABC content service speeds and
reliability, it has had the side effect of removing more and more
content from the link that Internode is able to 'unmeter'.

We expect that over the next few weeks, movement by the ABC to
external content hosting services will be effectively 'total', and as
a result we regret that we are no longer able to offer our customers
unmetered access to ABC content.

This is a situation where the ABC have taken an entirely reasonable
decision to improve performance for their customers, that has had an
unintended (and un-avoidable) consequence in terms of the ability of
Internode to 'unmeter' this content.

As a result, customers should assume (effective immediately) that
content from the ABC will be counted against their normal download
quota.

Should this situation change in the future in a manner that allows us
to return to 'unmetering' the ABC, we will do so.

All of our other existing 'unmetered' content servers remain in place,
and are not affected by this specific change to ABC content access.

* Other Cool Content

Internode has a wide variety of interesting content available to our
customers, with much of it available on an 'unmetered' basis.

For example, our our extensive streaming radio station relay service
allows you to enjoy high quality streaming audio from around the
world, without adding to your monthly download quota.

We invite you to visit our Cool Content web page, for information
about this and other interesting services and web sites that Internode
makes available to you as part of your Internode subscription.
